DJ News Mag : Hey Nadine, it's a great pleasure to receive you on DJ News Magazine, how are you today?
Nadine : Hey Adrien, it´s a great pleasure for me to being here. Thanks, I'm good! I came home from my holidays at Ibiza yesterday, it was amazing! The 'Tuesdays at Amnesia' party was awesome and the clubs at the beach had a lot of interesting sounds. The white isle gave me a lot of new impressions, it´s another world of music there. But right now, I´m chilling and selecting some tracks for my radio show.
DJ News Mag : You are arrived on the trance scene in 2009, for those who don't know you, what can you say about yourself in a few words?
Nadine : My Name is Nadine, I live near Frankfurt on the Main in Germany and I´m 26 years old. I mainly work as a lawyer assist.
DJ News Mag : Where did this passion for the music come from, which music style do you prefer to play in particular and who are the DJ's/producers that influenced you during these last years?
Nadine : I've been listening to trance music for 15 years. It starts nearly in 1995 when I buyed my first CDs from Marusha, Dune and Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo for example. Later it have been Kai Tracid and Talla 2XLC who influenced me. In the year 2004 I had a trip to Frankfurt City (Germany) to Talla 2XLC´s Technoclub party. There always play high class trance music artists like Giuseppe Ottaviani, Roger Shah, Sean Tyas, Simon Patterson and so on. This beautiful sound fascinated me and a few years later I started working for the Technolub behind the scenes and also started my dj career. Musically I am influenced by W&W, Armin van Buuren and the above-named.
Which music style I prefer? Hmmm... I love progressive trance as well as I like the melodic uplifting style. Mostly I start a little bit more progressive and then I raise the tempo during my sets.
DJ News Mag : In order to understand your influences better, if you had five tracks from any age to play for someone who is not familiar with your style, which ones would they be?
Nadine :
1. Shogun feat. Emma Lock - Save Me
2. Aly & Fila - Listening (Philippe El Sisi Remix)
3. W&W - Arena
4. Giuseppe Ottaviani - Angel (Club Mix)
5. Armin van Buuren - Communication
DJ News Mag : You are at the begining of your career, are there things you definitely want to realize like playing in great Trance events, producing your own album, creating your own label, working in collaboration with other artists...?
Nadine : For myself I visited many trance events like the Trance Energy, Armin Only or Mondaybar Cruise for example. It would be a very great honor to play on such events with some of the biggest names in the world. I think it´s a hard work to reach the position to play there. But of course, it´s an aim which I want to realize someday.
Well, to produce an own track is an great aim, as well as to work with other artists. I´m at the begining and it´s hard to imagine such things. But I´m a great fan of Willem van Hanagem's and Wardt van der Harst's (W&W) or Leon Bolier's style. They play and produce that kind of music I love. I think that´s the direction I want to go to if I would produce tracks or collaborate with other artists.
DJ News Mag : Your friend LXD is also DJ for many years, is it important for you to have someone near you who is in the same universe?
Nadine : Of course, Alex leads the way to the right direction and has always helped me with the first steps on the players. Together with him I had my first gig. We did a 2 hour back 2 back set. It was very amazing. It´s really important for me that he´s in the same universe. Trance Music is our life and we live it every day. We're visiting many trance events together and we both are working for Talla´s Technoclub team behind the scene.
DJ News Mag : How do you see today the more and more increasing presence of trance female DJ's and how do you explain that?
Nadine : Oh I think it´s a great job, even for women too ;-) A few years ago the trance scene was ruled by male DJ's. There hasn´t been a great female DJ like Marusha for a very long time, but today there are more and more famous female DJ's in the trance scene like Claudia Cazacu, Sophie Sugar, Jennifer Rene or Suzy Solar. I saw Claudia and Sophie djing several times and it was fascinating how they rocked the crowd. I think it´s a positive influence for the scene.
DJ News Mag : You also created your own radio show ‘Trance Injection’, can you tell us more about it and on which radio stations it is aired?
Nadine : My radio show 'Trance Injection' is aired on www.globalbeats.fm at the blue channel. You can listen to it every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5-7 pm CET. It´s a 2 hour show based on the latest and best progressive and melodic uplifting trance tunes.
There are also some guest sets at other radio shows like Destination VIP Sessions on www.sense.fm and a podcast at mixcloud.com. You can find all the dates at http://www.facebook.com/Sunivah or http://www.myspace.com/djsunivah.
I also had a special spotlight on crystal clouds and I´m very happy that so many fans are still downloading my mix and that I got so many positive feedback for it. Just have a look: http://www.crystalclouds.com/forum/index.php?op=NEArticle&sid=1210
DJ News Mag : When you're not looking for latest new tracks, what kind of music do you listen?
Nadine : Sometimes I like good house music or chillout, but nothing commercial. Even I like the music of Linkin Park or Bullet for my Valentine too. They make a good sound. It mustn't always be electronic music, but most of the time it´s the kind of music I listen to.
DJ News Mag : We arrive at the end of the interview but before, do you want to say anything else to your fans in Deutschland or around the world?
Nadine : Yes of course. Thank you so much for your support and help. Without all of you I couldn't have done this and wouldn't be at the point where I am now.
DJ News Mag : And our famous last question, a quick note to Deejay News Magazine?
Nadine : Very good work. Stay tuned and keep that quality alive. It´s very important for the edm scene.
Thank you so much Nadine, it was very interesting to discover a new artist who believes in her passion and the whole team wishes you the best for the rest of your career.
